the Chef behind Meta Kitchen
Viorel Copolovici (friends and guests always call him βVioβ) is a professionally trained chef and the mind and heart behind Meta Kitchen.
Prior to finding his personal mission in the kitchen, Vio had a long and diverse experience. He studied journalism, worked in marketing for more than 10 years, reaching top management positions, then chose cooking as a vocation. He ran a successful culinary blog, two restaurants and completed his studies at one of the most prestigious culinary schools in the world - Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute of London.
Vio believes his personal mission is to transform food into a memorable experience. His deepest passion is to create unique, completely customised culinary immersions for the clients he works with. He believes that a key part of his mission in the kitchen is to educate people on the importance of taking fresh ingredients - grown ethically and sourced locally - and mastering the art of preparing and mixing them creatively.
Over the years, he has facilitated numerous cooking demonstrations and practical workshops, both for professional cooks as well as for amateurs. He regularly hosted private lunches and dinners in his culinary studio in Bucharest and facilitated team-cooking activities for corporate groups - large and small. He has worked closely with different corporate and trade partners, creating experiential events with extremely diverse themes: creative pairing of wine or beer with outstanding food, exploring ethnic cuisine, re-discovering certain ingredients or cooking techniques.
Since 2017, Vio has been reaching students all over the world with his online cooking courses on Udemy.
In 2019 he moved with his family on the Sunshine Coast and was thrilled to come across a whole universe of amazing, fresh ingredients and connect with many other passionate foodies. He founded Meta Kitchen as a a play-ground where unique culinary experiences can unfold. In this space Vio honours his equal love of cooking for others and his passion for teaching people how to feel at home in the kitchen.
In this beautiful place by the ocean, he keeps on learning, weaving creative stories on plates and spreading the love for food as an uplifting experience, not just as nourishment.
