Meta Cook & Swim is a unique weight-loss and health-building program on the sunshine coast. it was born out of Chef Vio’s two core passions: cooking and swimming. The intersection of these has changed his life, and is now supporting others to change theirs in turn.
What is Meta Cook & Swim?
It’s simple. A one on one program with Vio where you get to learn how to prepare great healthy meals for yourself (and your family if you wish to) AND get to swim regularly, with guidance, support and instruction. If you’re a team player, even better! Take a friend (or more) on this journey with you and Vio can support you!
Research shows it takes about 60 days of practice to instil a new habit. Meta Cook and Swim will be most effective by offering you intense support for 4 to 8 weeks, as you master diverse and healthy cooking AND regular swimming. Once routine, technique and consistency are in place, you will be ready to continue these life-changing practices independently in the long term.

It is for people who have tried and failed to keep a diet or tried and failed to keep up an exercise habit. It is for those who love good food and would like to eat healthier without sacrificing the joy of eating. It is for parents who wish they cooked more often and more healthily with their kids and family, but might not know where to start. It is for busy people who believe cooking takes too much time or feel discouraged thinking it’s too hard to do after a long day’s work. It is for people who want to exercise and not feel it is a burden or a chore. It is for people who love swimming, yet might not have mustered the discipline to do it regularly. Ultimately, Meta Cook and Swim is for people who love life and know it is in their power to make theirs a healthier, happier one.
How does it work?
Meta Cook & Swim is your pathway to learning the skills and instilling the habits to change your life-style, from the inside out. It is a flexible program which you can customise to your own needs and life rhythms. The program has two main components:
Cook
Your weekly or fortnightly cooking lessons with Vio will take place in your own kitchen. You will do your weekly/bi-montly meal prep around your preferences or meal plans prescribed by your dietician.
If you simply want to expand your culinary universe, Vio will help you find myriad creative ways to play with ingredients, create diversity and joy in your kitchen and make great cooking effortless.

Swim
Vio will accompany you in setting up a consistent swimming habit. He will be by your side as you swim. He will coach you, guide you and even help you experiment ways to overcome the challenge of boredom that comes with long-distance swimming. Vio has been one of the first Australian users of the revolutionary underwater streaming device Zygo , which you will get to test in your trainings. Who said one can’t listen to music or listen to coaching instructions underwater?
As you get more committed to your swimming, Vio can introduce you to cutting edge methods of tracking your effort and recovery, with the help of world-class biometrics such as WHOOP, taking your training to the next level.
Origins of Cook & Swim
Vio’s story
Vio has been overweight most of his adult life, perpetually struggling to lose weight and frustrated by the yo-yo-like fluctuations that followed diets. On top of that, and completely related, he discovered in his mid-thirties that he had undiagnosed type 2 diabetes, which had already affected his heart. One would think that life-threatening disease would motivate a person to switch to a healthier life-style, but, as most people struggling with weight know, that’s much easier said than done.
Vio took a massive step towards health when he quit smoking, a victory 30 years in the making. Yet losing weight sustainably was like an Everest still waiting to be conquered. His big break came when he discovered that swimming was one of the few forms of exercise that brought him joy and did not feel like a chore. He started going to the pool daily and found that with movement also came more motivation to stick to healthier food. He turned his keep knowledge of cooking methods and creativity in the kitchen into fuel for producing delicious, but low-carb, meals to support his journey to a healthier self. He took the whole family on this journey, too, with everyone cooking and eating together, learning that a great meal doesn’t have to be a heavy meal. Vio lost over 18kg in 8 months through swimming and cooking. His blood sugar normalised. And for the first time in his life, the lost weight didn’t pile back up.
Vio’ became so passionate about the benefits of swimming alongside healthy eating, that he trained as a professional swimming teacher, on top of his training as a professional chef. Practicing the right swimming and cooking techniques with consistency helped Vio maintain the new habits he created in his life. Meta Cook & Swim was born to help others do the same.
